Bladder Cancer Awareness

Bladder cancer is on the rise today and so is the progress in the medical field for its treatment. Bladder cancer is a disease in which the malignant cells (which grow and spread in the body) are formed in the tissues of the bladder.

The purpose of a bladder as a body organ is the storage and release of urine. It is a hollow organ in the lower abdomen having a muscular wall that makes it larger or smaller. Urine is the residual liquid made by the kidneys when the blood is cleaned and it is stored in the bladder. The urine passes from the two kidneys into the bladder through two tubes called ureters. When the bladder is emptied during urination, the urine goes from the bladder to the outside of the body through another tube called the urethra.

Much care has to be taken when one is suffering from bladder cancer. But a new study research has found that current guidelines recommending care to be taken in case of high-grade noninvasive bladder cancer is not followed and hence the number is on rise.
